THE SPECIAL CARE FUND

Although we always have many wonderful cats available for adoption on our website, there are many cats at Atlanta Persian & Siamese Rescue that you will never see. They are not up for adoption because they arrive here in such poor health due to neglect and abuse, injuries or chronic, debilitating conditions. They need surgeries, medical attention and constant care. These are the cats for which we provide a sanctuary and take care of all their needs, even if it means that our shelter is the only place they will ever call "home".  They are our "Special Care" kitties and we are working hard to give them the quality of life they deserve. But we cannot do it without YOUR help and Support.  Please open your hearts and make a tax-deductible donation to the Special Care Fund at Atlanta Persian & Siamese Rescue.

UPDATE ON FAITH

6-5-05: The story below was posted in March of 2005 about one of APSR's special care cats named Faith. We are very sad to announce that Faith passed away on June 2nd, 2005. Despite our efforts to save her, the neglect and abuse to her body had taken it's toll. She died of Hepatic Lipidosis (otherwise known as Fatty Liver Disease). She was a very special cat and we will miss her dearly. Please don't let her life and death be in vain. There are many other "Special Care" cats at Atlanta Persian & Siamese Rescue that we are desperatly trying to save from the same fate. Your tax-deductible donation will help SAVE A LIFE!!! Please donate to the Special Care Fund today.

The pictures below are of FAITH, a 22-pound morbidly obese Domestic Shorthair female that we rescued on 3-19-05 after she was dumped at a local animal control facility for being "too fat".  Her real name was "Fatty" but we renamed her "Faith". She has suffered from horrible neglect, abuse and ridicule her entire life. As you can see in these pictures, her underside has large bed sores due to laying in the same spot for so long. She had to be completed shaved down because she was so badly matted and her fur was in such pitiful condition. (She would look much bigger if she had fur). She even arrived with a broken tail, yet another indication of animal neglect and abuse. The pictures below show the grim reality of what happens when people do not take care of their pets. Faith will undergo a series of blood tests and treatments, and will need to be put on a strict, long-term diet to get her weight to a normal level. She is one of our "Special Care" cats and she needs your help and support.
